uhh... I think you got your mythos mixed up there. Because that's not how Achilles parents got together to the best of my knowlege. It was that Zeus couldn't have sex with the nymph because her son if had by zeus would dethrone him.
But whatever, artistic licence is annoying for purists.
It was something along the lines of Prometheus warning Zeus that Thetis' child was fated to become greater than his father.
So if the father was a god, the child would be strong enough to challenge Zeus.
